On August 6, 2025, Downey & Scott participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Walker-Grant Middle School in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The event marked the official opening of a 160,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility designed to serve approximately 1,100 students.
As providers of Construction Management services, Downey & Scott supported the successful delivery of the $75 million project, which includes flexible learning environments, a full gymnasium, auditeria, state-of-the-art media center, and specialized classrooms for science, technology, and the arts.
The new Middle School represents a significant milestone in Fredericksburg City Public Schools’ commitment to future growth while honoring the legacy of the original Walker–Grant Middle School.
It was a privilege to contribute to a project that will benefit students, educators, and families throughout the region for years to come. Downey & Scott extends its appreciation to Moseley Architects, English Construction, and Timmons Group for their key roles in the project’s success.
