Recognizing a Lifetime of Achievement

Recognizing a Lifetime of Achievement

William G. Downey

William G. Downey

After more than 30 years at Downey & Scott, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude. It has been an incredible journey – one marked by growth, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. What began as a vision to provide the highest level of construction management consulting services has evolved into a company known for its expertise, dedication, and integrity. Our success has been driven by an exceptional team and the trust of our valued clients, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.

From the very beginning, we built this company on a foundation of lifelong learners with a “Can Do” approach and a core mission to deliver our clients the best construction management consulting services in the region. I am immensely proud of the people who have contributed to this mission and shaped Downey & Scott into the company it is today. Our shared vision and values have driven our success and will continue to inspire growth and excellence.

Pride, integrity, and skill were ideals and truths that my mentors coached. I was awed, challenged, and occasionally intimidated by the true Master Builders who took me under their wing. All these years later, I am still inspired by their vast knowledge, ethics, and teachings. Though my mentors have long since passed away, I have endeavored to “pay it forward” in the years since. Looking back, it is deeply rewarding to travel around the Mid-Atlantic region and see the public, private and monumental facilities I have been a part of. More than the structures themselves, I am grateful to the teams of people who delivered the built environments with successful results of over 50 years.

Starting June 1, 2025, I am stepping back from my day-to-day responsibilities, and I am pleased to share that we have key leaders who have stepped forward in our company management. Tim Harms has been operating the company for the past several years and will continue as the Managing Principal. Vice Presidents Joe Adams and Kevin Fallin will continue to manage the estimating and construction management departments, respectively. Together, they will lead the company forward and be the primary decision-makers involved in the day-to-day management of the company. I will be taking a step back from my responsibilities and will be working limited hours with special client assignments. I will be available to the leadership of the company and remain active in its future. While taking this step back, I look forward to spending more time with my wife of 40 years, two adult daughters, family members, and friends.

Leadership transition is an essential part of any organization, and ours has been carefully planned and implemented. Tim, Joe, and Kevin have my utmost respect, complete confidence, and unbroken support. I know they will exceed your expectations and serve you well. Thank you for your support, collaboration, and friendship over the years. It has truly been a privilege to be part of this journey with you.

Sincerely,

William G. [Bill] Downey - Founder / Principal
