Downey & Scott provided cost estimating services for the new 120,000 SF Occoquan Elementary School in Woodbridge, VA, which will be the first Net Zero school in the Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) district. Replacing the county’s oldest school (originally built in 1867–1869), the three-story, 850-student facility features a gym with stage, separate cafeteria, media center, conference rooms, maker spaces, and collaboration areas. Designed to achieve Net Zero performance, the $61M project incorporates solar panels, geothermal wells, LED lighting, and extensive use of natural daylighting to create a sustainable, high-performance learning environment.
